Our club was a little rough last night - one of those that the kids just come in looking tired and beat up.  Then, we tried to do about 3 new songs.  I realized doing newer songs maybe isn’t the best thing to do unless the kids are really into it.

Here’s some things I think we need to do next time.

  1. Practice the songs as a leadership team for a few weeks before doing them in club.  One pre-club is definitely not sufficient.
  2. Have some back-up songs picked out.  If club isn’t going well, throw up Sweet Home Alabama, instead of the newest “great song”.
  3. Be prepared to just stop a song in the middle and laugh about it.  Kill it quickly.  Don’t let it die on it’s own, or the kids won’t want to do it the next time you put it up.
  4. If you decide to do it anyway, be prepared to be super leader.  Sing your heart out.
