Mix It Up Monday

My wife started blogging a little over a year ago, and just recently started doing a few “blog carnivals”.  It’s been a great way for her to connect with other moms & teachers to share some great ideas.  She does one called Not Me Monday, one called Works for Me Wednesday, and another one called Wordless Wednesday.  Since she started linking to these blog carnivals, she’s seen her blog traffic go up about 200%.

The Leader Lounge gets the most hits on Monday, presumably because a lot of folks are doing Club on Monday nights, and we’ve all waited until the last minute to pick that perfect game.  So, I’ve decided to begin a blog carnival here called Mix It Up Monday.  If you have meetings on another day, you’ll just have to deal with it & share your great ideas with us on Mondays.

Here’s the idea.  I will share a very brief explanation of something my Club team is doing that night – game, talk illustration, skit, etc.  You will likewise create a short post on your blog with the words Mix It Up Monday in the title or text and a brief description of something you are doing or have done in the past.  Then, you will put your link into the little form on the end of my post and wala!  your link will magically appear within my post. (Take a look at this post to get an idea of how it works. Go all the way to the bottom.)

Official Instructions

1. Mix It Up Monday is a blog carnival.  It is set up to allow you to quickly (1 – 2 paragraphs) share tidbits that will help all of us mix things up a little bit.  It could be a post about a new illustration, game, song, or maybe something you learned that would help everyone.  Basically, anything that other youth ministry folks might get something useful from.
2. You post a link back here to my Mix It Up Monday post & enter your link in the “Mr. Linky” form at the bottom of my post.
3. You don’t have to ask before participating.  Anyone can join in and create a link.  I resevere the right to delete any inappropriate links, though.
4. You aren’t required to use the Mix It Up banner, but feel free to.
5. You are only permitted to leave your link if you link back to my Mix It Up Monday post.
6. Link to your Mix It Up post, not to your the front page of your blog.  Hopefully, people will be able to look back for months to see the things we’ve shared.  If you only link your front page, they will not see your Mix It Up post when they click your link.
7. Important – Naming your link.  This is the naming convention I’d us all to stick to as best we can.  “Name (category of your post)”.  For instance a post from me would be “Storms (mixer)” (without the quotes) if I wrote a post about a mixer.
8. I will put my Mix It Up Monday post up no later than 12:01 am (eastern time) each Monday.  More than likely I will post it sometime Sunday evening.
9. Remember, I reserve the right to delete any links that do not go along with these rules or are inappropriate in nature.
